Grade 4
Hello 4th Grade Families!
Can you believe it is already November? Our fourth graders have been working hard in all subjects! In math, we are working on division. Please make sure your children are working to master their multiplication and division facts. This will make working through the other standards in math a little easier. We have moved on to nonfiction in Reading. Students have been focusing on defining unknown words, making inferences, and finding main ideas and key details. A reminder, we are not assigning extra homework other than what is not finished in class, but we are asking that students are reading EVERY night for 20-30 minutes. This is so important! Also, please check with your child daily to make sure they have finished their classroom work for the day. In writing, we are working on writing opinion essays. Students are reading 2-4 articles and having to pick a side, stick to their opinion, and defend that opinion with text evidence in a 5 paragraph essay. This is a huge jump for them and will be something we will continue to work towards throughout the year. Science has been fun for the students, and we are trying to include more hands-on activities. Don't forget to ask your child what they learned in science each day! For students that are working from home, please make sure they have a quiet place to work, where they can focus and participate in their daily lessons. Thank you for your continued support in your child's education! We appreciate it!
